A friend gave me a referral code to have a week of free meals. I received the order with no issues and the food was good. However, I was charged $80 the following Friday. I was never notified that I would be charged or entered into a subscription plan. I have reached out to them multiple times and they have refused to issue me a refund. If you are looking for a meal plan, please consider shopping for a more ethical business. Thanks for reading.
I was delivered a meal June 13,2020. I put the meat in the freezer. I took it out June 19 and cooked it June 20,2020. I was tired from a full day of work and didn't notice there were worms in the meat. I cooked the meat and on my first bite I pulled a worm out of my mouth. My husband had already eaten 3 bites.
We both got super sick from looking at our plates covered in worm-infested meat, and skipped eating altogether that night.
I called GreenChef to complain and they were closed. I emailed their customer service and they responded with they hope "I don't hold it against them" and their rep acted like it wasn't a big deal at all. WHAT? I told them THIS IS A BIG DEAL and that other people will be getting this same worm-infested meat and could get really sick from it!
I asked them to have a manager call me. That was 5 days ago and nobody has called me back from GreenChef. I am registering a complaint with the USDA immediately since GreenChef isn't taking this serious. Needless to say, they and their owner, HelloFresh, have lost my business for life.

If you live in an area where Green Chef utilizes LaserShip to bring you your box... DON'T SIGN UP! This service is mediocre, inefficient and shoddy on it's best day! My boxes did not show up on the assigned day many times in the past year, or they did not arrive at all! I voiced my opinion to Green Chef over and over again; however, they stated nothing could be done. I am amazed a company such as Green Chef would be affiliated with a such an unreliable company! In today's world, the competition for Home Delivery of Meals has increased dramatically... If Green Chef tells you LaserShip is your delivery company... Chose a different service and alleviate a great deal of stress for yourself!
The meals are fair to mediocre with Green Chef, However the worst part is the customer service. They claim they can "customize" meals, so when you ask for no pork, it means no pork. The non-English speaking rep today claims well it is my fault. How many phone calls does it take? And they take no responsibility? And the boxes are late---no notice that delivery may have changed due to a holiday or weather. Customer service not helpful. Refunds requested--no it was the customer's fault. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.
Not much "green" about this service when I have had to throw away at least two items from each box due to mold and spoiled produce (kale, green pepper, onions, green beans, celery, and cabbage). Everything is packaged in plastic (recyclable only if you can get the sticker off and get the little baggies clean and dry...) Customer service was very responsive, but not worth keeping the service past the promotion.
They take payment then tell you what the meals are. When I realised they contained gluten I rang up and cancelled. Two weeks later what happens? I get an email telling me a box is coming and money has been taken I did not authorise.
I had to get back in touch and they could see I’ve cancelled and have refunded but these companies that entrap you with your bank details and take your money without your permission are a disgrace.
I would recommend avoiding them because you order this for a hassle free life and they caused me a load of stress.
TRUST THE BAD REVIEWS! ordered 3 weeks in a row. Veggies arrived rotten each time. Moldy and slimy, open and cut peppers trapped in plastic oozing bacteria. Thawed chicken in ripped open packages that I had to throw out. Hello Fresh owns Green Chef yet that division is so much better but higher in calories and loaded w carbs. We all gained weight in HF so we started GC. So much for that!
The best meal delivery box we’ve had by far! The quality of the ingredients is really high and the recipes are simple and delicious. Highly recommend!
Completely disappointed in the quality of meat, the peppers were slimy, and tiny portions. Cancelled!
I recently signed up to this service and the 'keto' recipes I was confronted with looked great, until I took a look at the nutritional info and noticed that they were knocking recipes up with 20g of carbs [pears / caramelized onions etc] per portion! I knew this company was too good to be true and it certainly was. Folks, if you've worked hard to get off the sugar band wagon, avoid this company because they clearly do not know what it means to be clean eating. Some of these recipes were a real sugar-fest. Ridiculous and irresponsible.
Very disappointed because some of the food (a major ingredient) was spoiled.
I would not order from here. I had a coupon for 12 free meals. So the first week they cut the price in half figured they would take off over the next few weeks but no. Somehow they decided the discount they gave on my first week was equivalent to the 12 free meals but it doesn’t make sense and doesn’t add up, they must have learned common core math. It is way over priced and they truly false advertise. There are many other delivery systems that friends have loved so I may try those or not because it isn’t that good and you don’t get a lot of food. Everytime I made one of these meals I had to make something extra as my kids were left still hungry. Beware what you are buying. They will also just charge your account whatever they want the price goes up and up. Never again.
My credit card info was stolen by Green Chef Employee, I know this because when I called to complain low and behold the person who used my credit card for her personal purchases answered the phone! When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told it would take 24 to 48 hours for a call back. I went online and started a chat requesting cancellation of my acct immediately. They did confirm cancellation of my account but never a call from a supervisor or an email of apology. Crooks! Do not support this company. I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one.
My diet choice was low sodium, soy free vegetarian. I was VERY pleased that their selection was first ORGANIC, HIGHLY nutritive on EVERY level: kale, sweet potatoes, carrots, beans, beets, nuts, seeds, fruit...and the seasoning packs were loaded with flavor and not a drop of salt. I love love love they left the amount of salt up to me. That is usually my issue with other people's foods - too much salt. I prefer pink Himalayan salt. Though the recipe gave the suggested salt, I added my pinch(es) and it was perfect for me. I also love that everything was less than 20 min. to prepare, very quick - a knife, cutting board, roasting pan and pot with top, a drizzle of oil here and there, done. Very easy, clear instructions.
On the business side, customer service communication was also excellent; prompt in helping me completely resolve a cancellation order. When my finances are more consistent, I would love to be consistent with my orders. My experience has been 5 star. Thank you Green Chef.

Green chef and Hello Fresh are the same company. There are many food delivery options available at varying price points. I plan to try a company called Trifecta next as they are advertised as higher quality and better options to customize meals, to avoid food allergens for example.
